'following dreams and standing up for dignity'

MURAL PROJECT + GLOBAL SOCIAL CHALLENGE (2018)
The #SpeakYourVoice mural project came to life during DMo's incredible experiences in South India. Threaded through the intense beauty of this land are harsh divides. These divides are felt from a young age, so DMo created a mural project with the collaboration of the Lourdes Servite School in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, to work with the children of the local community and help them speak their voice through painted imagery.
#SpeakYourVoice came about to say let no one of us allow religion, tradition, caste systems, social status, gender, colour, financial background, sexual orientation or physical ability stop us from following our dreams and respecting ourselves and others. If you want to stand up for this in your own life, then why not take up a 21 Day #SpeakYourVoice Challenge, to create a daily communication that's true to your heart. This challenge is for all, the young and the experienced. |
The challenge pertains to two aspects of voice
The first 'speak your voice' is essentially to follow your dreams, where you shine your brightest.
The second 'speak your voice' is to stand up for human dignity in your communications.
We all have a voice inside that needs to be heard. When we connect with it and express it, amazing things can happen.
How do we communicate?
It is not only what we say, but also what we think and do that is a form of communication. Let's ask ourselves, "How do I speak?" "What do I communicate?" The young learn from what they see and hear, so "What do I teach?" We all have experienced knowledge in one field or form, so "Do I share my knowledge?" And "Do I impart this know-how facilitating a space where one has personal freedom to expand?"
Doing what you love
It makes sense for us to do what makes our heart sing, for happy people bring good energy to the world. When we are discontent, feelings such as stress, anger and resentment increase, and these feelings can lead to ill-health, prejudice and violence. In contrast, a contented person feels lighter and is more prone to acts of kindness, to spreading joy and love, and to sharing knowledge and resources.
The effect
The more we share our inner voice, the more we build self-confidence, widen our desire and ability to share, heighten our appreciation for all that we are and have been given, and increase our awareness of our interconnectedness. This inner strength aids us in standing up for human dignity in our daily communications, rather than shying away from it or going along with something unjust simply to follow the crowd.
Our role and connection
We are all here to play a role unique to our being. There is no one else who can play YOU. You are the only one who can do it, and do it well. And with the added understanding that we are all connected, we recognize the ever-increasing need to reduce our negative behaviours and enhance the use of our positive qualities and language for a better life for all.
Challenge yourself for 21 days and discover the benefits of being true to you!

Tips for the challenge Inspired by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
TIP: AIM'Have an aim' explore and search for your dream, understand that which makes your heart sing, where you shine your brightest, be inspired to find your voice and how best to express it.
|
TIP: KNOWLEDGE'Acquire knowledge' ask yourself "what do I need to learn and know to bring this dream I am aiming for into reality? What skills are required?" Seek out those who can point you in the right direction, or can impart the knowledge to you.
|
TIP: WORK'Work towards your dream even in times of difficulty' in knowing your aim and acquiring knowledge, steps to living your dream will be revealed. It's important to keep moving forward, to remind yourself of your aims, and to find ways to continue your journey and keep a high morale, even in difficult times.
|
TIP: F&S'Learn how to manage failures and success in life' life's journey is a mixed bag of failures and successes. How do you manage them? By knowing that every failure sheds light on how to succeed. Every failure is a lesson in disguise that gives clearer direction. And when success comes, it is shared with those who have helped you succeed, because success is never a one-person job.
