ABOUT | arting it up across platforms
Danielle 'DMo' Oke is an intermedia artist and writer from Australia, though perpetual resident of The Art Playground (the space and way in which she creatively interacts with life). Her work traverses film, art, music and other creative streams, and is often considered ‘subrealist’ in nature. This is because her artworks, whether they be scripts, canvases, songs, or otherwise, often reveal that which exists beneath the surface, in an energetic, inside out storytelling kind of way.
This way to live and create influences her work's artistry, diversity and curiosity, as well as collaborations that honour the importance of our inner technologies i.e. our capacity to think, feel and connect. Through film, exhibition, performance and lab, DMo is creating content and experiences that highlight, explore, engage and celebrate the creative influence we all have on life.

Among other things, DMo is an award-winning scriptwriter, a songwriter and poet, and an internationally exhibited artist of painting and video art. Her work is both universal and intimate, playful and deep, and has been presented in a wide range of contexts including gallery, theatre, urban screens and film festival.
Some of DMo’s most recent projects include adapting the critically acclaimed book “Oi” by David L. Jackson, and penning the award-winning short film “Be-Longing” currently travelling the film festival circuit.

"I spent a lot of time in the water as a kid. I loved the full immersion feeling. This full immersion feeling moved into everyday life when I connected with creative inspiration. It was like living in a giant art playground, bringing diverse encounters and expressions. I allowed the energies to morph into what they wanted to be, and that's how I started creating in a variety of platforms."
