TAP L.I.F.E. creation in motion
DMo's creative initiatives are like snapshots in our life stories, taking these moments in time to creatively initiate movement to aid in the expansion of how we perceive...
HANDS ON HEARTS
(2021) 'feel-see the heartbeat of the world' Taking a poetics piece from 2005, DMo began a video collaboration with South Korean performer Sujin Lee, which resulted in the collaged video art piece Hands on Hearts (2021). This video ushered in the Hands on Hearts global art project, to act as a timely reminder of our aliveness, and an interconnectedness running through life that many rarely notice or tune into. Now is a particularly important time to recognize our connection and the power that lies in this truth. DMo invites people around the world to participate in the project by sending in their own #HandsonHearts pose to have it collaged with DMo's, to then share the united heartbeats around the world via social media. The pictures will go on to form part of a large tiled image of all the #HandsonHearts entries entitled The Heartbeat of the World, with the possibility of also being part of a time-lapsed video. Let's make visible a universal heartbeat that is always beating, whether we have noticed it or not. Let's tune into a loving light energy that is always present in life, whether we have noticed it or not...and just maybe, we will stand together with hands on hearts and feel-see our universal connection! |

#SPEAKYOURVOICE
(2018) 'following dreams and standing up for dignity' The #SpeakYourVoice mural project came to life during DMo's incredible experiences in Southern India. Threaded through the intense beauty of this land are harsh divides. These divides are felt from a young age, so DMo created a mural project with the collaboration of the Lourdes Servite School in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, to work with the children of the local community and help them speak their voice through painted imagery. #SpeakYourVoice came about to say let no one of us allow religion, tradition, caste systems, social status, gender, colour, financial background, sexual orientation or physical ability stop us from following our dreams and respecting ourselves and others. The project also launches a 21 Day #SpeakYourVoice Social Challenge for anyone wanting to represent this in their own life by creating a daily communication that's true to their heart. |

LINES IN A SQUARE
(2017+) 'drawing in and out of transient urbanscapes' Lines in a Square is a travelling muse project using lines to express observations, interactions and vibes of city squares around the world. Squares are meeting points, hangout spaces, travel-through zones, historical landmarks and top tourist destinations, and throughout their existence seem to take on a life of their own. This makes them excellent spaces from which to muse in the tradition of en plein air, yet DMo is swapping an easel for her lap and paints and brushes for paint pens. During a sitting, the square's transient nature is absorbed and expressed with lines, lines forming images and words. Part ethnographic study, part joie de vivre, this project draws in to draw out the movement of life. DMo is interested in each space's unique energetic tapestry, as well as the common thread that weaves us all together. Some squares are well known, others lesser, yet they all share the joys of wandering and experiencing a town's culture. If you happen to be in the next scheduled stop at the right time, feel free to seek DMo out and say hi. Your connection will be part of the experience... |

DANCING AROUND THE WORLD
(2016) 'dancing the world closer together' Dancing Around The World is a global film project presented by DMo in association with ReiMoves. It has been created to remind people of that which unites us in the face of rising separatism, by bringing people together through the unifying language of dance movement. The project calls upon people everywhere to capture and share a moving moment in your life story by creating a short dance video of 5 minutes or less. The video can be made in any style - movement-based, interview, experimental, meshing footage old and new, etc. as long as it features dance as a key storytelling element. Dance movement is borderless and timeless, existing for every age, culture and occasion, universally conveying feelings and stories in a way words are challenged to set free. So whether you dance professionally or just for fun, for tradition, fitness or sheer joy, we want to see how dance interpenetrates your life. |

KISS OFF!
(2014) 'uniting in a creative response to intolerance' KISS OFF! is a global initiative run by DMo and sponsored by Raindance and other organizations around the world, taking place during the week of June 28 to July 4, 2014. During this week people around the world are encouraged to share a photo or vine video of a same sex kiss in the name of love, equality and human rights. It is a creative way to challenge societal homophobia and bring awareness to the persecutions people face because of their sexual orientation and identity. It is also a visual celebration of love and life that uses art to educate and unite. |

CREATIVE THOUGHT SPACE
(2013+) 'creators share their insights' The Creative Thought Space is a creative research project began in 2013 on the heels of an essayistic work in development about living a life creative. The premise: Creativity connects us. Connection creates us. Therefore creativity has the power to create personal change and social change on local and global community levels. And so DMo thought, what better way to examine and share the importance of creativity, as well as insight into the often elusive world of artistic creation, than by asking other living, breathing, working creatives their responses to five base questions on creativity. Contributors are from differing backgrounds, countries and disciplines, linked by the common thread of creative expression. |
