What do you think being creative means?
To me, being creative is about giving shape to your personal perspective and sharing it through a medium.
How do you include creativity in your life?
I explore movement and create choreography to see how our bodies can tell human stories and emotions without using words. I also enjoy keeping a journal and taking photographs of everyday moments – they capture personal stories and reflect my point of view.
What are your thoughts on how your life has influenced your creative imagination, and how your creative imagination has influenced your life?
Everything I’ve experienced can inspire me – from my childhood and family to everyday interactions with people. These experiences mix with social and political events, reflecting the complex layers of human emotion and relationships. Thankfully, my imagination continues to guide me and keeps me moving forward as an artist.
What, if any, exercises do you do to get into a creative mode?
In the dance studio, I usually start with improvisation to begin my research. Outside the studio, I find inspiration in everyday life – observing how people interact, talking and drinking with friends, watching movies, listening to music. Anything can spark creativity. I also love watching YouTube videos!
How important do you think creativity is in life?
I think creativity adds a little spice to life, but it’s also nice to live simply and see the world as it is, without overthinking.
